I am a former registered nurse, having qualified in 1986. I "retired" from nursing at the end of 2016 to pursue a more satisfying work-life balance. For much of my career I worked in the community and so I am very familiar with being in other people's homes. Most of my working life was spent with older people and people with learning disabilities, which gave me a great deal of satisfaction. As one of my character references says, the writer having known me in my nursing role, "She is totally honest and trustworthy and always willing to help other people".
Alongside my nursing, I have brought up a family and run a household. I am passionate about my garden and get great pleasure from growing my own flowers and vegetables from seed. I have a particular interest in flower arranging and sometimes provide the displays at events for family and friends and at my local church. I enjoy other creative hobbies, such as sewing, patchwork, applique and cooking.
